About Hydrolyzed Guar Gum

An all-natural prebiotic fiber
PHGG is an all-natural, water-soluble, prebiotic fiber derived from guar beans. PHGG has been extensively studied in numerous clinical trials for gastrointestinal health and metabolic support.* Because PHGG is enzymatically pre-digested, it mixes more easily in water and is more digestible, which, unlike many other kinds of fiber, results in less gas, bloating, and cramping.*
PHGG supports a healthy gut microbiome by feeding the bacteria that reside in the large intestine.* When the fiber is fermented by the bacteria, healthy short-chain fatty acids (like butyrate) are created – the essential nutrients that help maintain colon health.* The result is a balanced inflammatory response in the intestines and healthier, more regular bowel habits.*
Beside gut health, PHGG increases satiety to enhance weight management efforts and supports healthy blood sugar metabolism and lipid levels.*

The Thorne Difference

Thorne uses Sunfiber®, a patented PHGG fiber that is tasteless, colorless, and odorless, so it can easily be added to beverages and food. Because of the enzymatic pre-digestion, PHGG goes into solution easily without the gumminess of many other fibers, and it causes far less gas and bloating than non-hydrolyzed guar gum.
